We die for our ancient Gods"

I wonder if they have ever tried to sing with a normal voice. I know that a lot of Swedish bands feel like the somehow have to make up for ABBA and somehow have to counter the level of abba-induced-gayness, but for real.. most of that music would be pretty bearable if the singer wasn't using his voice to perform a thorough lung/stomach cleansing.

Then it would just be Rock or Hard Rock not Metal. Though I do agree with you.

Its the metal growl style of singing. Common in Death Metal with way of singing and guitars tuned really low to get a swangy sound -and full speed ahaed!
Either you like it or not. I love it :)

This band is labeled as Death/Viking Metal. Rather funny. They have made like 11 albums or something all on the Viking theme with songs like "Bleed for the ancient Gods", "Thor Arise", "The last stand of Frej" and other viking related themes. A bit.. nished but i love the songs!

Since we are way behind Wkt beta tour I can tell you a "behind the scene" story. As u maybe know I was commanding VDV but stepped down claiming it was "not fun". Truth was that I wanted to do the commanding in GROWL style -the metal way of commanding. Sandy went bezerk and stopped it so I stepped down. Now I do tanking in 75R and the tank sound simular to growling, so I am happy now

meh, never cared for them much, too melodic. i think at the gates is my fav swedish death metal band

no need for fruity makeup and silly outfits

still, nothing beats good ole 'merican death metal, keep it simple, smash faces with hammers, **** people with knives, etc etc.

As far as grunting/growling? goes I can stand Max Cavalera a lot better than these guys, but oh well, I guess im more nu-metal or however you want to call it

Like a lot of different music. Just love the death metal when working or in the gym -and in general.. well sometimes at work I prefer some really glooomy music (Joy Division or whatever) ;) depends on the things I do
If it is low impact/long time boring training I go for some meaningless trance that blips, bumps and swiches in rythm..

Yeah.. The viking part is.. silly :) 11 records of that crap?! :) But who cares.. The songs are great and I kinda like the melodic twist. I think they are quite "tight" too. The stuff you show Dao is really great too. More serious (?)

I am not sure that what you bring is metal Sigidi. Rage against the machine metal with R&B based rythm.. Cool too but different genre (if that matters).

My favorite metal band is defenitely Lamb of God. Great songs, great musicians .. serious. There is a few bands in the world I like to see live.. Rammstein (check, seen them) and Lamb of God

Amon Amarth are one of the best

Also love Turisas and Moonsorrow for the 'viking metal' vibes. Also Korplikanni for raising a pint and my fist!

This was one of my faves :D

At The Gates were legends, oh god I have fond memories of listening to terminal spirit disease and the red in the sky is ours. I havn't dug into my metal collection for such a long time.

Rammsten is really cool -even if not metal (IMO).. Been fave band for years..

Shot this video with my phone when I was at their concert in my home town. It was a prototype phone so pic is not that good (camera not calibrated) but sound is quite ok.
Even if I was rather in the back the heat from all the fire was really heavy..

Than basically, when u use the term metal, you only refer to death/thrash/black/viking metal, while the term is also used much broader and is used for band like ACDC, Metallica, Korn etc. for a much longer time.

World went insane long before the Romans fell to the barbarian hordes.

Didn't you get that memo at birth?

I loves me some metal! Amon Amarth is great too. Dao still has much to learn.

One of my favorite bands/favorite songs..I figured this entire thing out on guitar by ear also. It took a while though..

Sadly it doesn't seem like they are still together, though they live on in Ghoul.
